In 2008?

In light of my illness - my boss told me to go home around noon today to take care of myself. She told me not to come back until I'm well, but I won't be taking her up on that offer because I'd just have that much more to do when I got better... but at least it is good to see that they're human around the office. (Even if they are all politically challenged)

So anyway - the point of this post...

John picked me up around 12:30 and we ran a couple of errands on the way home... nothing spectacular, but one of them happened to be that we needed gas. Well, while we were driving - I noticed a sign for a new grocery store with a gas station... and they were selling it for $1.89 a gallon. So we naturally stopped there.

We couldn't get into the gas station without going through the grocery store parking lot - and when we got close there were like 30 people standing around the pumps, and we couldn't tell if they were open yet. We were sitting there trying to decide, and they noticed us... and literally all 30 of them waved at us to come in and get our gas.

We pulled up to the pump, and a guy offered us some water or a coke - then started to help John pump the gas... it was their first day open, and apparently they were going for stellar customer service? It was hysterical to me - because John was out there pumping the gas and there must have been like 10 employees standing around him the whole time.

Our gas was so cheap that he ended up buying a car wash too - which had a similar experience to the gas station itself.... we pulled up in line and a manager was giving away free car wash coupons (which we saved for our next trip)... and there were 5 guys standing around watching the car wash too.

It was surreal - as we were driving into the car wash - I told John I didn't know if I was supposed to wave like we were in a parade or if I was just supposed to ignore them.

I can't make this stuff up - so I had to share!

Pause in Programing

We interrupt all the bloggy goodness with a massive sinus infection. As usual - I thought it was just allergies, but as yesterday turned into this morning... and this morning into this evening - nothing is helping... and the pressure is continuing to build.

So I'm contemplating going to bed at 8 - if I can make it until then. I'm absolutely headed in to soak in a "detoxifying" bath for a little bit... I put that in quotes because so far - it hasn't helped me.

Friends tell me that when they've used the bath soak - their water turned brown indicating that it removed things from their system... me... no change in the color of the water - and I refuse to believe that I'm completely pure. (I wish that were the case!)

I have something new planned for tomorrow - so hopefully I'll feel well enough to fully give you the planned fun. (If not - forgive me, but just know that it'll get better in the coming weeks.)

Sick Saturday

Well, the bug has finally gotten in my house - I've had a fever and sore throat all day today. On a good note though, our cleaning lady came today - and the house looks great! I pretty much have done nothing today other than a little bit of work this morning, and I went to WalMart to get a few provisions for the next week.

I picked up some sinus medicine, chewable vitamin C, and stuff to make some soup. I made the most amazing Chicken & Wild Rice Soup today, and it has actually helped make me feel a little bit better. You've got to go check it out - it's a new favorite!

I'm bummed that I didn't get to go on my Girls Night Out tonight, but feel so yucky that I'm destined to stay on the couch for the rest of the night. I hope that you're all having a good weekend - mine has been ummm... restful - so far.

Happy Daylight Savings tonight! I need all the help I can get feeling better - I'm working in the toddler room tomorrow...

Halloween Recap

We've sufficiently greatened the profits for the dentists in our area tonight - and I'm thrilled to say that 97% 0f the candy is gone! I've got something to finish before I go to bed tonight - so I'm keeping this short, but full of pictures. Enjoy!

We're nothing if not procrastinators - this is what we did tonight when we got home from work.

Our "Bubba" pumpkin is an original John creation...

Here he is - in all his glory!

Finally, this is little "L" of Right Foot Forward's family... isn't she the CUTEST pirate you've ever seen?

Thursday Night Frenzy

Tonight is our second small group meeting, and I've now rushed around to get the house presentable for company again... and dinner is heating in the oven... so I thought I'd sit down and write my post for today.

I might not get another chance because the likelihood of me wanting to write at 9 tonight is not great - I'm going to want to put my feet up and watch Grey's Anatomy or something other than break out the computer. Sorry guys - I love you, but I'm just keeping it real.

I'm sort of worried about dinner because it's still frozen in the middle after baking for a hour - I meant to pull it out of the freezer on Tuesday night, but forgot about it until last night... so I'm working with a handicap. (my brain) Hopefully it'll come together - or we'll be having our Bible study before we eat.

I'm so proud of John - he's really doing a lot of prep work for each meeting, and is doing a great job at leading our group. I hope that everyone in the group gets a lot out of the study - it's a 6 week study about the Love Chapter from the Bible... we watched the first session on Sunday so he could prepare, and it was really good!

I'll be back tomorrow with more...

As an update on my regimen:
Water - check (and then some!)
Food Diary - check
Workouts - check (3 already for the week - plan on more)
Vitamins - check

So I'm feeling pretty good about things this week - we'll see what happens on the weigh in... I'd be happy even if I just lost those mysterious couple of pounds that showed back up earlier this week - I don't know where those keep coming from! ARG! I'm so ready to kiss the 230's goodbye forever!

Somebody's Hero

I know that there is typically a day set aside to honor Moms, but I don't think that it's possible to honor them too much - and I was moved when I heard this song come across my iPod the other day.

There aren't many words that I could write that would make a better tribute than to tell you that even if your kids don't tell you often enough - you are making a HUGE impact on their lives, and the little things you are doing right now... will be in their memories for a lifetime.

On their behalf, I thank you for all that you do. (Yes, even for telling them "No" and making them clean their room.)

This sentiment goes to the Dads out there that are doing their part too!
