Hi/Lo

Well, the Riggs Family didn't get around to doing their Hi/Lo Carnival this week, but I wanted to post my list anyway...

Lows:
  • Finding out the expense of the fertility treatments and being called into the business manager/principal's office to be told that I had to pay because they refused to try billing insurance first.
  • John being ill the first couple of days of the week because of my bright idea to build a garden... we WAY over did it - and I'm sure he'll do the same this weekend while I'm gone.
  • Watching my little brother be miserably ill yesterday, and desperately trying to find the poor little guy a doctor to see while he's thousands of miles from home. (He ended up with a steroid shot and lots of medicine... and hopefully he'll stop sounding like a dog when he's coughing soon...oh and no more 103 degree fevers, please!)
Highs:
  • Getting the all clear on the first ultrasound to progress with treatment...
  • Spending time with God praying that he'll give us a baby on this first try... praying for a miracle only HE can provide.
  • Seeing John's joy and pride when he reached 50 pounds lost... he deserves these milestones as much if not more than I ever did.
  • Getting back into my daily Bible reading routine... now if only I can keep it up while being on retreat.
  • Getting a book suggestion from my cousin - anyone out there read Supernatural Childbirth? She says that she has several friends that have read it and have had their baby miracles happen... I'm thinking of making a slight detour to get the book on the way out of town today.
  • Heading out to the woods with my lovely church family of women to spend the night and all day tomorrow getting closer to them, and to God... I need both of those pillars to keep my strength up for this journey I'm beginning.
  • The possibility of a new project at work that will refresh my excitement... I desperately need that in that area of my life.

Hi/Lo Thursday

This post is part of "Hi/Lo Thursday" on the Riggs Family Blog. Check out their blog to read everyone else's "Hi/Lo" posts and get your link on their site.

Here we are again for Hi/Lo Thursday!!

Hi's
  • I've gotten several compliments at work this week - my Vice President seems to think I'm doing a good job... which makes the time and effort feel worth it!
  • Getting to know some of my co-workers a little bit better - there is actually one of them that I can see becoming good friends with. She's also a Christian - so we've started talking about that a little bit.
  • Becoming excited about planting my first garden, and planning what it will look like with John. This will be the first time I've ever been excited about doing anything in the yard!
  • Feeling a little more emotionally grounded this week, and having a sense of peace that God is with me every step of the way.
  • Celebrating all the family birthdays last weekend - especially John's grandmother's 93rd... she's doing so great! She had brain surgery last September - so it is especially wonderful to see her doing well.
  • Thinking about all the vacation possibilities that could be on the horizon with our weight loss - additionally - the activity possibilities that will open up even locally that we haven't been able to do before.
  • Having all of my cousins and sisters on Facebook now and being able to keep up with them... seeing pictures of their kids and generally enjoying the process of watching them learn a new technology.
Lo's
  • Not feeling as well as I would like and dealing with the eye infection over last weekend.
  • New medication changes that will take some time to adjust to.
  • The weather - or well not being able to snuggle up with a book and a pillow during the rainy weather.
  • Finding out that my friend Hope's Dad isn't doing well right now - he's having some heart problems that are causing pulmonary hypertension - please pray for his health and for her in dealing with all the doctor visits.

This has been a pretty good week - so not very many low moments... if only every week could be like that!

Hi/Lo Thursday

This post is part of "Hi/Lo Thursday" on the Riggs Family Blog. Check out their blog to read everyone else's "Hi/Lo" posts and get your link on their site.

I saw this over on the Rigg's Family Blog today and thought that it would be a good exercise for me to take a minute and write out my Hi's and Lo's for the week - just as a good reminder... and list of praises/prayers for the week.

So shall we get started with the list?

Are you sure?

Alright here we go...

Highs
  • Having my carpool buddy (aka, John) back at work this week... less traffic headaches!
  • Feeling more in control of my eating - now that I'm keeping my carb levels down considerably.
  • An entire weekend spend without any major agenda items... other than church on Sunday we didn't even leave the house!
  • Stollen moments to sit and read Friday Night Knitting Club
  • Not having to cook at all during this week because of my cooking marathon over the weekend... it's a BEAUTIFUL thing!

Lows

  • Feeling frustrated at the lack of weight loss for the amount of work I'm putting into it... okay, read NO weight loss.
  • Struggling to be able to get through my workouts this week - and having to lower the intensity.
  • Generally not feeling well - and possibly fighting a cold.
  • Wishing that I was on Spring Break like most of the other people in my life!! Why doesn't corporate America observe these types of breaks?

What are your Hi/Lo moments for the week?
