Wash Wednesday
This time around, I made this and used the OxyClean with the whitening power, and I found a box of pregrated Zote soap at Walmart -- so I'll be using that as often as I can find it. It was so nice to not have to clean the food processor! Previous attempts at making this, I used Ocean scent as it was my favorite until Scentsy released Scentsy Clean scent... and it's now my "go to" scent for laundry!
We also have Scentsy Clean Laundry Liquid as well as the Washer Whiffs in this scent... and both come in a host of other scents as well - so pick out your favorite today!
August is double kit month -- contact me for more information!!

My Why
Anyone in a direct selling business is asked this question. Sometimes we are asked for goal setting purposes, other times we're asked because someone is interested in selling, other times people are just curious about why we even try to accomplish what we do while we are in the middle of so many other things.
I sell Scentsy and Velata -- and am dabbling in the possibility of selling Grace Adele as well. Scentsy is a line of home fragrance products, bath products, laundry products, and even products for the car! Velata is by the same parent company, and is a line of chocolate fondue products and serving pieces. Grace Adele is yet a third line by the Scentsy Family Companies, and is a line of customizable purses and bags as well as jewelry and scarves.
Why do I sell? At the most fundamental -- my reasons are these:
By having this business, I am able to provide things that our single income might not be able to provide on it's own. I've been able to help pick up the costs of medical care when our FSA and copays don't cover it all. I've been able to buy memberships to the zoo and the Children's Museum with my additional income. I have paid for party supplies for my kids and for other showers I have been a part of hosting. Christmas gift purchases were supplemented with my additional income. In the months to come, I am planning to also start supplementing our mission to get out of debt - Dave Ramsey style!
That isn't all it has given me, it just barely scratches the surface of the bigger picture. It is part of the American dream! I am my own boss, working my own chosen hours, and loving these products while sharing them with others.
I could do 10 parties a month or just 1 -- and it is more fun than this painfully shy person has had in a LONG time. I am NOT a sales person by a long shot, and I am not one of those direct sales people that plans silly games to make parties successful. I let the products speak for themselves. I set up a display, and let the scents or chocolate sell itself. It always has, and the quality is so fantastic that it always will. Basically my work at parties consists of setting up, answering questions, making some suggestions, and clean up -- it takes about 2-3 hours of your time, and it is fun to do!
Additionally, we are able to allow hostesses great benefits for allowing you to talk to their friends & family... and they don't always have to be traditional parties. We also have catalog parties, online parties, and basket parties. Basket parties are simple and easy for people to take to their office or wherever they choose to collect orders -- and frees them from having to clean their house or set up any snacks. These parties are perfect for those who aren't the traditional hostess type.
From there, you can build a team of other sales people who want to embark on this journey with you. It isn't required that you build a team, but you can enhance your experience by doing so. Yes, there are some financial benefits of building a team. However, in my case - I get much more joy from coaching others to reach their goals. I am almost at my 1 year anniversary, and I couldn't be more thrilled to share my results -- it speaks for itself for someone that is in a relatively new city where I only know stay-at-home moms.
In my first year:
Sales: $11,439.81
Commission: $3,300
Team: 3 people
Team Sales: $14,559.88
I'm proud of these numbers because my new team members only came on board toward the end of this past year, so I can't imagine the potential of what we can do in the years to come.
Often businesses like these are met with negativity, but I'm here to tell you that I am being completely honest when I tell you that I am the anti-sales person. If I can do this with this level of success -- anyone can. I take "no" at it's word, and am not pushy... I don't appreciate those tactics in sales people myself -- so I don't use them. So don't let someone steal your thunder. At it's core, it is an opportunity for you to invest in yourself. You get great products with all of these lines that are well worth the cost of the kits -- actually worth more than the cost of the kits. I've done some of these businesses before and was not successful with them -- mainly because I chose product lines that were great, but weren't lines that were functional for my life... basically things that I didn't use regularly. If you love the products, or even don't know about the products -- but love home/personal fragrances, chocolate, or accessories... you owe it to yourself to explore this option.
If you've ever considered joining the Scentsy Family Companies -- now is the time! It is deluxe kit month right now so for your $99 you get all of the traditional fall/winter kit with the added bonus of getting the new spring/summer testers and catalogs for the new lines coming out in March. That is why I chose to sign up last year at this time, and I made use of the outgoing catalogs by handing them out in my neighborhood to get the word out about my launch. Or if you sign up today -- you could get your launch party going immediately and as we finish out this month, your customers would get 10% off of just about everything in the fall/winter line! It is a GREAT time to sign up for Scentsy.
If home fragrances aren't where your passion is -- you could sign up for Velata and share your love of all things dipped in chocolate. You can eat the chocolate warm or use it for making cake pops, candies, gifts and more! This kit is also $99 to sign up for Velata and comes with everything you need to get started.
If neither of these is where your passion is, and maybe you are interested in accessories and purses -- you can sign up for Grace Adele by following this same link. You will be asked which line of products you'd like to sell during your sign up on any of these links. The Grace Adele kit is $199, it is a little more because of the quality of the products. The bag you will get alone is worth the price - but you will also get color swatches, jewlery, and catalogs... and all of the start up information you need to make you successful. Additionally, as a special bonus -- I will sign up for this with you and we'll get started together.
Like I said, you get me as your coach with each of these you have me as a coach... and an incredible upline with my friend, Laurie, who is a Director and her sponsor who is a Super Star Director. We have a phenomenal consultant support center with countless training videos and a fantastic Facebook support system as well with a special group dedicated to our group for sharing ideas and best practices.
I would be happy to send you these catalogs over email for you to take a look at the full product lines for each of these three companies, and let you know of my personal incentives for joining my team. So consider all of the ways you could enrich your lives by getting involved.

Life Changing
I am going to take a little break from the Christmas updates for today -- I've got two more to get done, but I wanted to write about something different today. I really want to tell you about something that has changed my life in so many ways.
Almost a year ago, I took a leap of faith and joined a company that has been more than I ever dreamed it could be. I am absolutely NOT a sales person by any stretch of the imagination, but in 9 months I managed to sell $10,300 worth of products from two of Scentsy Family's brands... Scentsy Fragrance and Velata.
I live 10 hours away from 90% of the people I know, and I've still managed to be successful in this type of business -- and I want to show you how easy it is! Will you take a few minutes of your time and watch this video? I promise you won't regret it -- it will show you so many things you might not know about this company.
In my first month with Scentsy - I sold enough to make a profit -- so invest in yourself and let me coach you to success for whatever goals you might have. Is it a family vacation? To pay for an extra luxury item at your house? Supplement groceries? Pay for extra curricular activities for your kids? Whatever it is... I can help you get there! You can read a few more details about signing up on my website. I'd love to chat with you about any questions you might have -- or help you get started, just leave me your email in the comments section.
If you're in the Little Rock area or anywhere within driving distance -- I'd be happy to have you as my guest at our Spring Sprint event... I'll pay your registration fee if you will commit an afternoon to learning more about Scentsy Family.
I also wanted to show you this AMAZING warmer that is on special for January - it's $31.50 plus tax -- or you could host a party and earn it for free. January is double 1/2 price hostess rewards -- so you'd get twice the half price items you normally would on top of the free items that you will earn as well. Consider hosting your party today! It can be a home, basket, or catalog party. Contact me today for more details because to get the double 1/2 price rewards... we have to close your party by the end of the month!
The same hostess special is available for Velata as well -- so you could host a party for this product line as well... same deal applies though, the party needs to be hosted and closed before January 31st!

Did you know that Scentsy has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to Ronald McDonald House, Autism Speaks, American Heart Association, and more through charity warmers and other programs? We are currently in a promotion with a warmer benefiting Special Olympics.
Do you want to be able to share exciting products with your family and friends without any pressure? Like I said, I am absolutely not a sales person... but I am able to share my excitement with the people that know me based on my success... the rest goes from there.

Help in the Storm
I can't quite put my thoughts into words about what happened on Friday -- so I'm going to repost this and let it stand for itself today.
In light of the horrible tragedy in Connecticut, Scentsy consultants are coming together to try to do something neat for the surviving students upon their arrival back at school after the holidays. Can you imagine the difficulty of that day? I certainly can't, so lets help them know that we are with them in spirit. Our goal is to have a Scentsy Buddy sitting on the desk of every student upon returning to school next month (hopefully excess for siblings and friends that were also impacted).
How awesome would it be for a HUGE truckload of these Buddies be delivered for these kids?
A fellow Scentsy consultant who teaches at Sandy Hook is collecting the donations since we are unable to send directly to the school during the investigation. Scentsy Buddies are currently BUY ONE, GET ONE FREE, so your donation would be going to two children at Sandy Hook Elementary. ($26.91 buys two buddies!)
If you order, please order from the "Sandy Hook Students" party on my website. (You can PayPal me the $$ for the donation, and I'll save you the shipping costs) All hostess rewards will be used to donate additional Buddies to the students along with any commission I earn from this fundraiser.
My website is https://khawkins.scentsy.us -- If you want to order via my website: please leave me your email in your order so that I can let you know how many buddies we are sending at the close of the party. You will need to ship it to:
Heather Bishop
9 Goldmine Road
New Milford, CT 06776
** Any other Scentsy reps that would like to help -- Join in with this as the shipping address.
Thank you so much for helping support these students and this community during this horrible time. Please continue to pray not only for Newtown, CT, but our nation as a whole.

Falling Off the Wagon
Well, I totally fell off the wagon on my posting daily for the month of November deal. I'm so upset with myself, but I have to be honest - I have been so sick that it just hasn't been possible. My body wouldn't allow it. It's been a constant flow of illness, and I go back to the doctor yet again tomorrow to try to get it under control.
I took the boys back to their doctor today, and we found 4 infected ears so we're trying a new antibiotic for them. 10 more days of medicines and possible diaper issues... joy. I go back tomorrow for another visit for my recurring issues, and hope that we can figure something out to get this kicked out of our house for good!
Since my posting has suffered, I thought that I'd at least some photos of the recent happenings from around our house...
This is a photo from a couple weeks ago, but it fits for this week too. We had a great day on Saturday watching our Texas A&M Aggies beat Alabama. The boys had fun yelling with Daddy, and enjoyed watching one of the few games from the season that they were awake for the whole game. I thought the second half of the game was the best because they boys snuggled up with me to watch movies on my iPhone, and it was so sweet to just have them close to me for a nice calm period of time. I watched the game while they were happy with their movies.
I'm not sure why, but this weekend - the boys decided that playing in old boxes was more fun than any of our toys. So they have played in them for the last few days. Thousands of dollars worth of toys and they'd rather play in a box. I guess we will have a long future of decorating boxes like cars and other items as their creativity develops. I can't wait for those days!!
I made a major mistake on Monday, and we showed up for what we thought was our doctor's appointment... a day early... so on the way back from the pediatrician's office Tyler fell asleep. Any Mom out there knows about the dreaded "car nap" -- we fell victim to that yet again, and thus naps were a bit of a nightmare for us yesterday.
We are still slowly opening the new toys that the boys got for Tyler's Birthday. Yesterday was a stacking train, they loved it -- both were screaming "choo choo" and having a ball with it. It was pretty cute, but didn't last long... because it was in the end, no match for the boxes.
I try to capture as many moments of the playing together as humanly possible because it's such a rare occurrence in toddler land -- so here is just another photo of them playing with the train and their little Sesame Street character cars.
This happened this morning, Tyler climbed out of his crib and got into one of the twin beds in his room. We've been having some sleep struggles with Tyler lately because of him being sick, but also just in general he has been having a tough time. A couple of weeks ago, he figured out how to get out of his crib -- so we've bought him a toddler bed, and need to move it into his room. All of our illnesses has slowed that process down considerably, but it's clear that this boy is ready to move to another bed. He looks so sweet here, and I honestly was glad to see him sleeping because his stuffy nose has kept that from being as routine as it needs to be.
I'll leave you with another bit of information on my Scentsy business -- I've got two fundraiser's happening this month -- one for the Southern States Rottweiler Rescue (SSRR) and the other for American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) -- I will be donating 20% of all sales from these parties to their respective organizations. I would be honored if you'd help me by getting your holiday shopping started while supporting two great organizations... Just click on my website: https://khawkins.scentsy.us and then click of the party of your choice. There are two awesome BOGO deals going on with Scentsy right now too to help you get more for your money -- our Scentsy Buddies are 2 for $25 (scented stuffed animals) and our Fragrance Foams are 2 for $6 (scented hand sanitizer).

November Love
I try not to inundate ya'll with my love of all things Scentsy... but I have to share a few things with you that I'm excited about.
The Warmer and Scent of the Month for November are two of my all-time favorites this month... I loved the scent for October as well... so I want to share them with you.
Last but not least, I wanted to share with you some holiday gift ideas that will be budget friendly for you too!
If there is anything I can help you with, please let me know - I'd be thrilled to help you put lots of things under your tree this year for a reasonable budget!
The Warmer and Scent of the Month for November are two of my all-time favorites this month... I loved the scent for October as well... so I want to share them with you.
Peppermint Dreams -- A warm rush of honeyed-cupcake sweetness cooled by a blast of fresh mint.
I personally think it smells like a combination between an Andes mint and a peppermint patty.
Mandarin Moon -- Spirited cinnamon and glowing ginger illuminated by sweet orange and star anise.
I love this one for it's little bit of spice mixed with citrus - which is one of my favorite clean scents.
Our Fragrance Foams are buy one get one free right now -- which make great teacher gifts, stocking stuffers, and all sorts of other gift giving options really affordable! You get 2 for $6!! You can't beat that!
Additionally, our Scentsy Buddies are buy one get one free too -- so you could make two kiddos very happy for $25!! These are GREAT, both of my kids have them in their room to help with the nasty diaper smell... but they've also played with them!
If there is anything I can help you with, please let me know - I'd be thrilled to help you put lots of things under your tree this year for a reasonable budget!

It's Fall Ya'll!
Given the irregularity of my posts lately, and the fact that it's been quite some time since I mentioned it... I thought it might be time to talk about something close to my heart again. It might be something different than you might think. This time, it's Scentsy.
Why is it near to my heart? Well, it's changed my life in so many ways in the few short months that I've been involved with this company. I read a post by a fellow consultant today about the misconceptions with direct selling companies... and it was powerful and convicting. You see, the decision for me to join this company changed my life - it has allowed me to step in and pay bills when needed, and provide for some activities for the boys. Beyond that, it has given me something that I can do for me as an outlet for my creative side... and challenged me to step outside of my comfort zone at times -- which has led to incredible growth both with my own business, but also growth in leadership skills as well.
Friends, it's not all about getting the sale or making money... for me it's about so much more. I enjoy sharing products that I truly adore with my friends and family, but I also have been blessed to be able to start a team -- I now have two lovely ladies who have joined in this business with me. The potential for them is incredible, and for me - the joy in seeing them achieve the same success I have is more than rewarding. I love sharing ideas with them of things that have worked for me, but also hearing their ideas as well... it's a give and take. We are all finding our own brand of success, in whatever time and energy we have to devote to it... and that is a beautiful thing. While I am not about the hard sale or high pressure transactions - I am about supporting and rewarding folks. If you think that you'd like to learn more about this opportunity -- I'm here any time to help. Just drop me an email, and I'd be happy to share with you: my experience, the ins and outs of the business opportunity, my personal incentive plan, and my team incentive plan.
I'm hosting a Fall Launch Party to share new products for the season... AND a fundraiser to help support the fight against cancer. A fellow blogger, Kristen, has recently experienced her Father In Law being diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer -- and I'd like to give back. Not only give back in honor of Kristen's family, but in honor of everyone that has fought and won the battle against cancer, and those that have lost. Most of us have been touched by someone in this battle during our lives... and this is a good way to give back. I'm donating a portion of the sales of this particular party to the American Cancer Society in honor of Ger Lawlor and all that have fought cancer... the percentage I'm able to donate is up to you!! I'm starting at 15% of the sales, but if this party reaches $1,000 in sales... I'd give 20% -- higher than $1,500 -- and I'll give 25%!
Now, I did want to take a couple of minutes to share some other things with you... the new items for this Fall Season. So indulge me while I share with you some of my favorite items... **If you'd like to buy from of of the parties mentioned above -- make sure you click the link at the top of the page to select the party of your choice.

Resurfacing
I pretty much disappeared in the middle of a blog challenge, and I'm so sad about that. Good thing I over commented on the days that I participated - so I did manage to complete my commitment. I've been so ill in general that I can't manage to get much of anything done other than take care of the boys and get our meals prepared.
The visit to my orthopedic surgeon didn't go as well as I had hoped. I do have an official diagnosis on that end, but no treatment was done for me. My blood sugar is out of control right now, and any treatment that could be done on my shoulders would cause even more problems with that issue. I'll get to see an endocrinologist next Thursday - so hopefully from there things can start falling into place.
For right now, I'm struggling to keep up because my body aches continually... I'm having trouble sleeping... and my chemistry is off from taking bad advice from a doctor that I questioned. I should know better, and trust my gut... but I let him sway me... never again.
I've got a rare moment with the boys being at school that I can sit down to blog. I miss writing so much, but it just isn't easy right now.
On a happier note, I want to take a moment to tell you about something AMAZING that happened. I found out shortly before the holiday that my Scentsy sales for June were quite noteworthy! I was the #1 seller for my sponsor's team in June by having sales more than double the amount of the next person on the list. Additionally, I was #3 in sales for my entire up-line of 2,800 people! I'm amazed! I am NOT a salesperson at all... which tells you something about these products, they are so amazing they sell themselves. My love for the company and joy in offering these to friends and family got me here. I would LOVE to help anyone else reach their goals as well - my commission this month will cover a car payment and our insurance! Would you love to help your family while staying home with your kids? Let me help you turn your scents into dollars - join my team - I'll coach you and walk through this path to success with you!
A few July specials I want to share with you as well...
It's Bring Back My Bar month, where our wonderful fans vote to bring back 20 retired scents to be sold for 1 month only! Stock up while they are available!

Layers
So, I woke up yesterday feeling like I'd been hit by a truck. Not in the traditional sense of that statement though - normally I associate it with a head cold, but I literally hurt from head to toe - like muscle/joint pain. It is so ridiculous that I'm calling an orthopedist today as soon as they open.
I've been dealing with pain in my arms/shoulders since Tyler was born - the right side worse than the left. I can't lift my right arm shoulder height without bringing myself to tears which sure does make dealing with two toddlers difficult. Basic hygiene things are tough too - like shaving my arm pits - literally makes me squirm in pain... but is absolutely required - so it's time to make it happen without the tears, right?
While I'm dealing with trying to get in to see this new doc today - I thought I'd tell you about something that I tried this weekend (on a completely unrelated topic) and LOVED.
I want to talk to you about Scentsy Dryer Disks - they are AMAZING! Let me give you some back story.
When we bought our house - it was not set up for a gas dryer, which is what we have because our home in Texas was. Since gas appliances are cheaper to run - that was what our whole home in TX used. Anyway, we had a handyman come in and change over the hookup for the dryer for us... but when he did it, somehow it wasn't capped off or something and our dryer now is much like the outside in terms of climate and smells.
What I mean is that on a humid day, if I accidentally don't get the clothes out of the dryer when the cycle ends - they will come out a little bit damp. They'll also smell a bit like fresh cut grass on the days when John does yard work... so this is a problem. I've had some experience with Downy (or I think that's the culprit) leaving some oily residue on our clothes too... so I needed to find something different to help add some good fragrance to our clothes.
I sell Scentsy as most of you (all two of you still reading) know, but I hadn't tested out our new laundry products yet. I bought samples for people to look at during my parties, but hadn't tried them because they were my party samples. Well, in a moment of desperation while drying my sheets yesterday - I decided I HAD to use this product... I couldn't sleep on sheets that smelled like grass anymore!
So, I dug through my party supplies and got this little friend out. It's part of the new Scentsy Layers line of products for your laundry and bath. I think all of these products are fabulous, and have used several of the other items - like the bath gel, and lotions. The dryer disks come in Quiver or Coconut Lemongrass scent. I happened to have Quiver on hand, so that's what I used.
Our clothes, and laundry room smell amazing! I'm so in love with these - I fully plan on buying a BUNCH of them to have for my personal use, but also to give as gifts. I sincerely hope that when our new product catalog for the fall comes out that they've expanded the scents that this is available for purchase in.
Additionally, in those same two scents - we have Washer Whiffs which can be added to your laundry during the wash too. I'm going to use up my current scented detergent and get some that is not scented so that I can add in some lovely Scentsy scent in both the wash and dry cycles! I truly am a new convert!
This whole line of bath & laundry products is amazing - the bath products come in about 6 scents for each item - so it's a bit more of a selection than the laundry items right now, and I think they are wonderful. It's sort of fun to have some of your favorite and most popular scents carried with you throughout the day!
I couldn't be more excited to be this in love with another of the products that I'm selling - of course, I shouldn't be surprised because Scentsy ROCKS! Not only do the products rock, but being a member of this company is truly changing my life - I'm about to hit another big goal this month, and make a special bonus... I would love it if you'd consider helping me reach that goal by making a purchase - large or small, every purchase helps!
I am so amazed that in the short time I've been a part of this company, I joined in February... I've achieved so much. For someone that is NOT a sales person, I've truly had some amazing success! I've sold over $1,000 in products each month - averaging my commission to be between $250-$300 or more! Would you like to join in with me and turn your scents into dollars? I would absolutely love the opportunity to coach you and walk through this amazing journey with you.
I'm also in love with our Velata - chocolate fondue - products as well. I've personally tried the milk chocolate and dark chocolate fondue with family and friends... and it is amazing. You can't put a price on how good a little bit of chocolate makes you feel as a tired weary lady/wife/mother/employee/sister/daughter/friend... even more than that, when one of your friends is in need of some comfort and time with friends - there isn't a better way to have some extra special fun than some of your favorite treats dipped in warm chocolate. We offer milk chocolate, white chocolate, dark chocolate, and caramel milk chocolate... so you can customize your experience to suit your favorite flavors!

Cherry Vanilla & Chocolate
Hi there everyone! It's that time of the month again - the 1st of the Month!! This month is sure to be fun and exciting for us - with Mother's Day, a visit from my Mom, my birthday, my Mom's birthday, the end of the MOPS year, the end of the school year, and of course new business ventures and sales.
I'll start off telling you about the new Scent of the Month for Scentsy - Cherry Vanilla! (there is no warmer of the month this month because of the new exciting launch that I'll talk about in a just a minute.)
It is described as: Sweet as the finishing touch atop your favorite sundae. Cherry Vanilla is a delightful swirl of candied cherry and sugared almonds folded into velvety white chocolate ice cream. It is 10% off for the month of May.
Also - anyone that would like to host a Scentsy home/basket/online party in the month of May will get a special incentive from me... just let me know you're interested and I'll fill you in on the details.
You ready to hear about some chocolate?!
This morning Scentsy launched it's new brand venture - Velata!
I couldn't be more excited to share this product line with you - because who doesn't love chocolate? I know I do!! It's even better when it's warm and I can dip yummy things in it. Even better than that? When it's warmed by a light bulb instead of a flame... so it's safer for my toddlers to participate in some family dessert fun!
We're starting off offering 3 styles of warmers in a good variety of different colors:

You ready to hear about some chocolate?!
This morning Scentsy launched it's new brand venture - Velata!
I couldn't be more excited to share this product line with you - because who doesn't love chocolate? I know I do!! It's even better when it's warm and I can dip yummy things in it. Even better than that? When it's warmed by a light bulb instead of a flame... so it's safer for my toddlers to participate in some family dessert fun!
We're starting off offering 3 styles of warmers in a good variety of different colors:
This is called the Curve collection - it comes in Blue Razz (as shown), Clementine, Huckleberry, Key Lime, Licorice, and Marachino. $40 each and comes with a matching set of 4 fondue forks.
This is called the Pedestal collection - it comes in Blue Razz,
Clementine, Huckleberry, Key Lime (as shown), Licorice, and Marachino. $40 each and
comes with a matching set of 4 fondue forks.
This is the individual collection - currently in black and red (as shown) - also $40 and comes with a matching set of 4 fondue forks.
Now for the chocolate!! Melt the chocolate in its convenient package, twist open the spout, and
pour it into your Velata Fondue Warmer. Chocolate fondue has never been
simpler. It comes in Caramel Milk, Dark, Milk, and White chocolate. The chocolate is $7 a pouch and is a high quality Swiss chocolate designed to be warmed in our warmers. Additionally, if you don't finish your chocolate - you can put it in the fridge and rewarm it again at another time.
Lastly, we have a couple of accessory options including: additional sets of forks for $5. You'll get 4 additional forks for that price - available in Blue Razz, Key Lime, Maraschino, and Licorice. There are also lids available for the Curve and Pedestal warmers for $5.
Lastly, there are some Combine and Save packages available as well to help save a little bit of money.
