I'm not sure who was more traumatized... I think me... because my baby boy is growing up so fast! It really wasn't too bad overall - but he sure does look older now!
I love these little men, and their Daddy so much!! We're in the full swing on this cross country move... packers & movers come a week from tomorrow. So things are about to get NUTS.

Wordless Wednesday - Almost
So, I turned 33 on Monday... it wasn't glamorous - Tyler was vomiting all weekend and stuffy... so my adult contact for the day mainly consisted of a trip to the pediatrician. It's been a bear of a week with these two little men - James is teething again, and Tyler of course is sick... and we're talking sick to the point where you can see it on his face that he just feels terrible. It's a lot to deal with both of them being miserable at the same time, but I'm trying my best to hang in there. If only we could get some sleep... but that's when Tyler has most of his problems - because he gets super stuffy when he lays flat. So he's been sleeping in the bed with me... which means that there is very little sleep for me, and lots of waking up to calm my tiny man down.
So I thought I'd give you some photos to enjoy of these two little crazy people that I live with. HA!

Bought and Ready
Last week, I went to Memphis to choose our new home. I bit the bullet and left the boys here with family, and took two nights alone with John. It was the first time we had truly left the boys for anything more than work or one company Christmas party... so it was a nice treat to just hang out with my husband for a couple of days. Of course by Friday - I was ready to see my little men again... and naturally our flight was delayed by an hour and a half coming home.
I think I looked at about 7 different homes, and had it down to three that were acceptable... but of course had two that really were my favorites. Both for totally different reasons. One had an AMAZING pool, but needed quite a bit of updating that we'd have to fit into our budget and time restrictions with two toddlers. The other was really nice on the inside - move in ready - but didn't have the pool. Ultimately, we chose the one without the pool - with the hope that we can put in a pool next spring/summer if we choose to do that. I think that would be a nice addition for the kids... and we probably could make it prettier doing it to our tastes. Strange thing is that Memphis doesn't really do anything like a community pool - so we won't have access to one unless we come home or put one in.
Anyway - here are some photos of our new house! We will close on it May 25th and will be moving on May 31st. Nothing like quick turn around, right?! Oiy!
I will of course take more pictures once we get settled - there is a total of 4 bedrooms - but only two are pictured... and 3 1/2 bathrooms as well... so look for more photos to come!

Easter Pics
Better late than never, right? Here are some photos from our low-key first Easter with the boys. I know, we're heathens for not taking them to church on the most important day in the year for a Christian... but we did read them their baby Bible book with the story of what Easter is all about. That's more than they'd get in the church nursery. We are still struggling to get everything done that needs to get done in a weekend during this hectic phase of our life... so we just try to do the best we can.
All of that being said - we did do some celebrating with Easter baskets... The weekend was CRAZY busy - starting on Friday with grilling and playing in the pool at my Dad's, then Saturday we celebrated John's mother's birthday and had some Easter baskets given to us by the grandparents, then Sunday we tried to regroup and catch up... so here are some photos of the fun that we managed to fit into our weekend.

James playing with the basket MawMaw & PawPaw gave him... My Dad & Lynne got them each a little something too... and Aunt Cathi got them each an outfit. Fun stuff!
Still playing...
So excited!
James can't wait!
Get down here people... it's time to open this bad boy!
Getting a little help from Missy
Opening James' basket - all that stuff and the kid is STILL playing with the ribbon. Seriously - the ribbon, his pool float, and his one A/V cord that Daddy gave him are his favorite items. (I'll take a picture of the treasured items when he's done playing today)
James' cement truck and singing thing-a-ma-jig
Daddy reading us the story of Easter
Tyler's dump truck to match James' cement truck
James enjoyed the book so much he decided to read it again on his own.
Tyler got a touch and feel book about baby animals
Tyler with his singing thing-a-ma-jig
James enjoyed removing all the Easter grass from his basket.
Tyler got the 'Twas the Night Before Easter Veggie Tales movie.
I got this set of books at our local grocery store - but they looked so cute - I knew we had to have them.

Not As Planned
Oh, how the best plans have good intentions, right? Do those ever happen as intended when you've got so many moving and young (read two infants) parts? Not in my house, that's for sure.
This week was to be the week that my replacement at the office started, and we worked together to get her up to speed... as well as take some projects a bit farther together. Well, start off with a sick baby over the weekend - or at least that's when we determined that it began after it became a full blown mess this week... and things have gone downhill from there.
I went to work on Monday, having a slight inkling that James wasn't quite himself... but had no idea that I would soon be dealing with a baby version of something similar to strep throat. After spending the majority of the day with my replacement - I got the call that James was completely out of sorts... fever, cough, runny nose, and he was hoarse. So I rushed him to the doctor on Monday evening... and that's when it all started.
I was told by the doctor that the best thing for James was to keep him home until his fever went away for at least 24 hours and his other symptoms had decreased. Typical reaction to a child being ill. So that meant that this Mommy wouldn't be able to make it back into the office until today at the earliest.
I made my arrangements, and took care of getting things ready for that... only then to have Tyler projectile vomit on me Monday night at his bed-time. He then did it again twice more yesterday. So, I wasn't sure what was happening with him. At our 2AM feeding last night - I saw that I had a text from our baby sitter telling me that her daughter and the other toddler that she watches had been throwing up... so even if the boys had been fine - I couldn't take them to her house today if I'd wanted to.
After 3 days - we all finally got a decent amount of sleep last night, and I believe are on the mend. Not 100% obviously, but headed in the right direction.
So, I'm sitting here trying to keep the babies out of the way of our cleaning service... and I get an email (yes, an email) from my office. Apparently, given this illness with the boys and the fact that I am in the process of moving - they decided that this would be my last week there. I was upset by this email, at first... because the time away from the boys and the extra money were helpful in this season while I'm doing all of this alone during the week.
It took me by surprise, and as a friend pointed out - it wasn't handled well... but what are you going to do? It was an email asking me to come bring them their keys because it was my last week...and to come tie up any loose ends with my replacement. Unreal, right? Since they chose this path... I said that I'd mail them their keys. I'm not carting two sick babies an hour from home to a building with no way for me to bring them upstairs at the same time... just to return your keys. I'm sorry.
I guess this is a loud and clear message that it's time for me to get things going on this end and get the heck out of Texas for our new adventure. It's time for the Momma Hawk and baby birds to hit Tennessee with our favorite Daddy/Husband. We need to be together. I guess we are now available for some play dates and extra time with family before we leave.
