We'll just start calling it the 5DPT (5 Day Pouch Test) - and I'm going to keep this post open until tonight and give you periodic updates... (in fact - I'll color code them based on when it's written)
** Since time got away from me - you're getting the Day 1 stuff during Day 2... but I'll try to catch up tonight if I can.
I've made it halfway through Day 1, and so far I feel alright. Not great - there is a slight bit of a headache lingering in the back of my head... but if that's the worst that it gets - I'll take it. Carbohydrate withdrawl can be nasty... can I get an amen from those of you that have done Atkins in the past?!
I've had 1 bottle of my water for the day - I'm shooting for 4... (they're 20 ounce bottles). The thing that is getting to me so far is the fact that my body seems to be - well... going through a process that seems to me like it would be if you - say... took a bottle of diuretics? Seriously - in the last hour - I've been to the restroom like twice!
The other main thing going on is that I am freezing! That isn't really a huge difference from the everyday - because they keep our office like the frozen tundra, but my hands and fingers are just like ice. I'm sure it's a combination of the water and the cold shakes, but whew... I might have to put a blanket in the dryer when I get home just to sit under it and warm up!
I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do about my workout tonight - I don't know right now if I want to give my body a break and let it get through today and tomorrow with a little bit of a lighter load in terms of working out - especially since my total calorie intake today will be 813. Maybe it's pushing it too hard to burn 320 of those calories? (Well - really my body naturally burns a little over 1800 without any activity - thanks for that knowledge bodybugg!) We'll see how I feel about it when I get home.
In the end - I felt alright... the headache did eventually get worse, but so far today it's hanging in there. I got really cold for most of the day, and a little jittery toward the end of the day as well. I did find myself a little tired of the whole sweet taste thing - so if I did it again - I'd probably prepare a little better and have some of the savory recipes on hand to get myself through the first couple of days. Some creamy soups would certainly help with the cold. I'm sure I can make it another day... it's only two days without food, right?! I mean John has is rounding his second week without food at this point... although - Dude is losing like 2 pounds a day!! He's already down 40 pounds!
By the end of the day, I had a calorie deficit of 1,153 calories...
At any rate - I'm hanging in there and have completed day one... it's like getting halfway through a workout - I've got to get through the second all liquid day now because if not it would be a bunch of wasted effort.
