2020 Powersheets are HERE!!!

2020 PowerSheets Collection

I want to talk to any of you out there that are thinking that $60 is a lot of money for something like this. Trust me, I get it... but if you break it down... that's an investment of $5 a month... can you skip one trip to Starbucks or 2 trips to Sonic in a month to afford yourself this amazing product that will change your life? If you break it down even further... it's $0.16 a day... and I'm telling you the 80 pages of prep work is work that alone!

So to sweeten the deal a little bit more -- if you use my link to make a purchase between now and Saturday at midnight... I will do a drawing for 2 people to win a gift card to Starbucks or Sonic -- their choice!

Don't forget about the two bundles that are well worth a look at - remember if you spend $100 you'll get free shipping as well. So the Best Year Bundle will get you close to that - add on the Magnetic Page Markers  and you're there! You could also go ALL IN and get the I Want It All Bundle (if you opt in for that one -- let me know and you'll automatically get a gift card for a drink on me!)

Those that shop tomorrow will get the best deals (because the bundles will sell out) AND you'll be entered to win the amazing prize of your order being delivered by the Cultivate What Matters Team! I would LOVE to be a winner because I just want to hug these ladies!

One more product that you might consider is the adorable New Day Pullover  it is a super soft sweatshirt that would be amazing to wear on those cold days!

Beginning on December 9th - Lara will begin posting Powersheets Prep Week videos - where they walk you through doing the prep work together as a community. There are some amazing groups on FB that are super supportive... but in addition to that - I'd love to help you with them as well -- just let me know in the comments and we might be able to pair up as accountability partners for our Powersheet goals.

There aren't many products I believe in quite like Cultivate What Matters... they've changed my life. Other things that they have are some great Write the Word journals, and The Kids Bundle which has some Write the Word journals designed specifically for kids!

REMEMBER to let me know in the comments if you use my link so that I can add your entry into my giveaway for 2 winners to get a Starbuck or Sonic gift card -- your choice!

Lotsa Dots Giveaway

Have you heard of the awesome products sold by independent consultants for Thirty-One? I fell in love with their products just before Tyler was born. I love having things monogrammed or personalized and this allows for the boys to have these things for school - which will make my life easier to figure out which bag goes with which child.

I got the Large Utility Tote for Christmas in 2010 - with our Last Name monogrammed on the side. Our pattern isn't available anymore... but this thing holds EVERYTHING! I use it for our trips back to Texas the most because I can fit most of the boys' feeding supplies in the one bag which makes it easier on me! At $30 - it truly is a life saver!

We also got a set of these for the boys last February - they haven't used them yet, but I couldn't resist for family movie nights or even naps at school... these About Town Blankets are just too cute. Ours are another out of stock pattern in maroon... which for my future Aggies - is PERFECT. They've got their names across the front of them and at $39, I thought they were a great value for the price.

I've got my eye on a few other things for the boys as they move to their own classes at MDO next fall, and will need: backpacks, lunch boxes, and nap mats! They're getting too big for me!

Lets get down to the fun part, a group of ladies have gotten together and are hosting a big online catalog party... you can shop ALL of the fabulous 31 products by going - HERE - Pam has lined up a giveaway for every day of this week, so check out her blog through that link to get to all of the giveaways!

Additionally, Britt, is hosting a giveaway today as well, and is also one of the masterminds behind this fabulous week of giveaways and the catalog party. So you can stop by her blog today: enter her giveaway, and make purchases for other Thirty One items.

My fabulous friend, Amanda, is doing the giveaway for us on this little corner of the web. She is giving away this fabulous Organizing Utility Tote in the Lotsa Dots pattern... (can I be honest, I REALLY want this for myself...)

Before we get to the entries and details of the giveaway - Amanda would love for me to tell you that anyone who books their own online party between April 1st - 15th will get an extra special gift. The FIRST person to book their party will get a Mini Utility Bin for FREE!!

Want to get entered? Alrighty... here we go. I'm going to draw a winner on Wednesday - March 21st at midnight. Good LUCK!

Shutterfly Christmas Cards

I'm fresh off of our photo session for our 2011 Christmas card, and I am really grateful that we got some good shots this year. So I thought, I'd take a look at the new designs for Shutterfly cards this year. I used them last year, and they were FANTABULOUS!

Some of the designs I'm loving are:

I haven't decided 100% on which design I'll use, but when I get our photo CD back - I'm all set to get them ordered. Which will also mean that it's time to get the official 2011 version of the Hawkins Family Newsletter written to be inserted with the cards. It's funny how many times I've been hassled if I don't get that thing written!

We are huge fans of Shutterfly in our house - we used them for both of the boys' birth announcements, we've made photo books, and also made calendars last year for the grandparents. This year, we'll likely turn to Shutterfly for some of our gifts again - because with us living so far away - we want our kiddos to always be front and center for their grandparents.

The cool thing this year is that Shutterfly is allowing me to give away THREE credits for 25 free Christmas cards of your own! Of course you can use them on any cards - so if you happen to celebrate something other than Christmas... you're all set.

You've got until November 4th at midnight to enter... and here is how you can earn entries - each entry needs to be submitted in a separate comment:

1) Be a follower of this blog
2) Be a follower of my recipe blog - which got a new facelift this week. (Momma Hawk Cooks)
3) Follow me on Twitter (KBHawkins00)
4) Tell me how many Christmas Cards you send each year...
5) What is your favorite type of Christmas Card to receive? (photo? newsletter? handwritten?)

King Doughnut Giveaway

The wonderful folks from one of my favorite online retailers is teaming up with me for another product review and giveaway! We all love doughnuts, right? If you're like me though, the thought of having to get dressed to to out and buy them can seem daunting on a weekend morning. For me, that's part of the charm of baked doughnuts... I can make them for the family while still in my jammies!

The King Arthur Flour folks sent me a doughnut pan and a buttermilk doughnut mix. This is what you could win for yourself!

The back of the doughnut pan has a recipe for spiced cake doughnuts... YUM! I clipped it out and saved it with all my recipe cards.

You get to batches of mix in the box - so you can try out a couple of different things... and they have other mixes as well! They've got Apple Cinnamon, Buttermilk, and Chocolate.

I poured the mix into a large mixing bowl, and it called for mixing in two eggs slightly beaten. Then you can choose the other ingredients - either milk or water (I chose milk) and oil or melted butter (I chose melted butter). I felt like I needed to go full on with this round to see what the best ingredient options (for full flavor) would make for us.

You just pour all those ingredients into a bowl together and mix until smooth. It couldn't be more easy! The hardest part for me was getting each of the photos taken.

Here is the batter ready to put into the pan. Just a little note, there is a hint of cinnamon flavor in this batter. I know one of my dear friends is not a fan of cinnamon - so I just wanted to give the heads up. I'll mention this again later - because it brings up a point I want to make when we get to glazing them.

Spray your pan with a little cooking spray (I used butter flavored) and fill the molds about 2/3 full. Then bake!

Here are my babies in their little warm comforting oven... ready to do their magic and be ready to eat in about 10 minutes!

I didn't really prepare enough ahead of time and wasn't sure if I'd have all the needed ingredients to make my own glaze, but I had this Duncan Hines glaze from something else I was going to make before we moved. So I used that. I'd HIGHLY recommend you go to King Arthur's site and look at these glaze recipes. I can honestly say, that I wouldn't go chocolate glaze again with this mix. It wasn't right for me with the cinnamon flavoring... I think vanilla or the cider recipe would be better.

On thing that is different from most baked goods is that the doughnuts are finished baking but the tops never brown. It's a good thing that you glaze them, but it is sort of against the nature for someone that bakes fairly regularly.

Here is my glaze all ready to go, and the doughnuts sitting on a baking sheet ready to take their dip in chocolatey goodness. I pulled them out of the pan after a minute or two for a little more cooling - because my "natives" were getting restless, and I needed them to be room temp to serve them to James & Tyler.

Doughnut in the pool! It quickly got a shower of pecans after the dip in the glaze. You can have so much fun with the glazes and toppings. I mean you could do an orange juice glaze... maple glaze... and the topping options are limitless!

Here they are ready to eat! Yum-o! I couldn't have been more happy with how these turned out. They were fluffy, tasty, and made everyone in my family happy. The mix and instructions couldn't have been easier... and the pan was wonderful! I know without a doubt that you would LOVE having this as an addition to your kitchen.

James getting to eat his first taste of a doughnut... he's never had anything like that before - so it was a very successful first breakfast pastry!

Chocolate face proves how much he enjoyed it!

Tyler's first bite of a doughnut... no chocolate for him though.

MMMMMmmmmm... tasty!

Alright, so lets get down to the contest rules - shall we?

Fruit Infusion Giveaway

As promised... here we go with another AWESOME summertime giveaway.

Before we get into the review and giveaway - the winner of the Lets Make Lemonade Giveaway is...

ASHLEE!!
(email me at kbhawkins00 AT gmail DOT com so I can get the prize to you)

And now... the folks from Takeya are SO awesome - they're letting me review and giveaway another of their products, and this one I know you'll be equally excited about.

I fell in love with their Fruit Infusion pitcher instantly when I saw it - who doesn't love to bump up the flavor of water? I personally get bored quickly with plain old water... so a little creativity helps.

Here is the pitcher just out of the box. It's really similar to the lemonade pitcher in design, but has a really cool filter to hold the fruit into the pitcher and allowing the water to come out. I was feeling citrus the day that I decided to do our demonstration - and happened to have lemons, limes, and an orange... so that's what I chose to use.

I was feeling citrus the day that I decided to do our demonstration - and happened to have lemons, limes, and an orange... so that's what I chose to use.

Simply slice up the fruit that you want to add into the pitcher, and you're 99% done! I've also heard that cucumber water is amazing... and even adding herbs would be an option as well.

This is a good image of the filter that is used to hold the fruit into the pitcher while you pour -  it's a great feature that helps from having fruit drop into your glass as you pour.

I put in a little ice, dropped in my fruit slices and filled the pitcher the rest of the way with filtered water. I then placed the pitcher into the fridge for a few hours to let the fruit infuse it's flavor into the water.

After a few hours - I poured myself a glass and enjoyed some cool summer refreshment. You could drink sooner if you squeeze the fruit into the water.

I really think this pitcher is great - in light of things that I've learned recently about the benefits of fresh lemon juice... (it apparently can cure/prevent several types of cancer) I'll be using it very often. I think it will be fun to come up with different combinations of fruit to put together. It's very simple to use, and light weight... and I think it would be a great benefit to everyone. You could even use it for other drinks and just let the filter keep the ice from falling into your glass as you pour.

Soooo --- here we go... it's YOUR chance to get one of these!

The giveaway deadline will be midnight on Monday, July 11th.

Lets Make Lemonade!

The wonderful folks at Takeya USA are allowing me to review TWO of their awesome products this summer, and additionally allowing me to give each of the items away to one of you fabulous readers as well!! How fun is that?!

The first product that I'm going to review and giveaway will be their Flash Chill Lemonade Maker - we love lemonade, and honestly what drew me to this product was the ability to juice and strain the pulp from the fruit.

Here is the product as it arrives at your door... lovely simple packaging!!

I pulled everything out of the box, washed it and set out to make a new Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade!
(recipe at the end of the post)

One more shot of the pitcher and box with my citrus bowl... such pretty summer colors!

You'll learn the details in the recipe below, but I had to make the strawberry puree to begin the recipe.

Blending up some strawberries with sugar, water, and a little lemon juice.

Next up, juicing the lemons. Now I used this product twice before writing this review... the first time I followed the instructions on the box, but my sugar didn't dissolve as well as a would have liked. They have you fill the pitcher with ice, juice the lemons, add sugar, then add water, and mix it up... which make instantly cold lemonade. If you can delay the gratification a little bit - I think this product works even better for the recipe I made for these photos.

The lemon juice collecting in the bottom of the pitcher.

The lemon seeds and pulp stay at the top of the pitcher while the juice falls through to the bottom.

I had so much pulp and stuff - I had to stir it around a little bit to get it all out.

My little kitchen helper, James... Tyler watched from his high chair across the room.

The gorgeous finished product!!

Don't you want a sip?!

Overall, I really liked this lemonade maker, it was easy to use. It does just what it says it will by keeping the pulp and seeds at the top while allowing you to make lemonade without dirtying a juicer and a pitcher. The pitcher is a really nice slim design that easily fits in your refrigerator, and is made of a material that washes clean like glass - but I believe is actually plastic. It is as light as plastic... but is perfectly safe for all you health nuts out there. I think this would make a great addition to your kitchen items!

Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade

Yield: 6-7 cups
Ingredients:

For the strawberry syrup:
1 heaping cup chopped strawberries
2 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. lemon juice
2 tbsp. cold water
Pinch of salt
For the lemonade:
1 cup very hot water
2/3 cup sugar
1¼ cups freshly squeezed lemon juice
4½ cups cold sparkling water or seltzer
Directions:

To make the strawberry syrup, combine the strawberries, sugar, lemon juice, water and salt in the bowl of a food processor or blender.  Puree until smooth.  Pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove the seeds, pressing down to extract as much liquid as possible.
To make the lemonade, combine the hot water and sugar in a pitcher.  Stir until the sugar is dissolved.  Mix in the lemon juice and water.  Stir in the strawberry puree.
To serve, rub a wedge of lemon or one of the spent lemon halves around the rim of a glass and then dip in sugar.  Fill with ice if desired and then lemonade.  Garnish with sliced lemon or strawberries.  Serve immediately.
Want one of these for your house?!

I will give one away - deadline for entries is midnight on July 5th. (one entry per comment, please)
