Q&A Wednesday

I know it's a day late, but what are you gonna do?

Holly asked:
If you had to live on one food for the rest of your life, what would you pick? :)

Seriously, only one?! Oh wow... I've got so many favorites and I'm such a variety person. I get bored with food easily, and find myself in a "rut" often. I guess if I had to choose one... I'd say cheese and probably crackers - I know that's technically two, but they go TOGETHER to form my favorite snack.

It's funny to me because if you had asked me this same question in mid-2007... I probably would have chosen something sweet, but now my cravings are mainly for salt.

JLI asked:
where do you work and what do you do there?

I work for an organization called Neighborhood Centers, Inc., and I am their fundraising database manager. Which means that all of our marketing communications, donor tracking, donor research tracking comes through me. Eventually I'll have a department that works for me, but for right now I'm a one woman show. So for instance - on the event we just had yesterday... I was responsible for tracking all of the money raised as well as the attendance/seating for the event.

What is your employer all about?

Mission: Bringing resources, education and connection to under served neighborhoods.

Vision: Individuals and communities living up to their full potential.

Basically, we have 59 community centers spread throughout our area offering all sorts of services to our clients. We do everything from child care to senior care... job training, immigration services (helping people gain citizenship), disaster relief... and probably many more things. I don't know too much about the program side of things sadly...

Our clients tend to be lower income, so our programs offer affordable solutions - such as child care in the summer for $60 a week per child...

Heather and Renee asked:
How did you feel wearing your dress while everyone else was in black??

I got several compliments about the dress - even one from our Vice President - who thought it was really cute. It actually worked out really well because everyone that chose to wear an accent color was wearing the green that I was - so it looked more like we were asked to wear the green... sort of. (Maybe that's my happy place) It was super comfortable, and I really felt like I looked cute - which is the name of the game, right?!

That's all we have for this week... please leave your questions for next week in the comments. I'll be back next Wednesday for Q&A.

  1. Well when the database work gets tedious and frustrating, at least you know your company is doing a lot of good in the community!
